Jose A. Vilar is full professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Coruña and member of the research group on Modelling, Optimization and Statistics Inference (MODES). His most recent research activity focuses on the classification of time series and nonparametric methods for dependent data and functional data, including application in environmental issues and oceanography, and software development in R. He has participated in several research projects supported by institutions and public and private companies. He is currently a researcher assigned to the Technological Institute of Industrial Mathematics (ITMATI) and member of the network BIOSTATNET.
